Old Business
–Other venues for the
reunions was discussed. This year the electricity in the kitchen was not
up to par with the stoves not working at first and the hot water heater not on.
Also, the stage and restrooms building was taken away and portable toilets took
their place. Rent was $150.
Three locations were nominated-
--Emmaus Park - more central for many attendees but no kitchen, restrooms
& parking locations not optimal, and pool takes attendees away from pavilion
--Eurana Park in Weatherly - site of the original family reunion but not
sure if handicap accessible
--St. Peter’s Church in Barnesville, PA - where several of our relatives
are buried and the kitchen, parking, and restrooms are good with handicap
accessibility. Rent is $40.
A vote was taken by raising of hands:
--Emmaus 11 votes
--Eurana 0 votes
--St. Peter's 26 votes
With the majority vote for St. Peter’s, Rita Heimbrook Gambler
and Nate Garber each donated $20.00 to pay for the rental fees for 2008.
Nate will reserve the date with St. Peter's as he is a member there.
New Business
-Board Updating - Al presented a board showing the descendants from Michael Friesz through LaRue Kohlhaas, adding 29 more people to the tree. David would like to get the family tree boards updated for next year. Al Fritz has the paper but they are trying to figure out the logistics. The tree is so large that it will be difficult to come up with a layout to fit everyone on and Al would like a board design that is free standing once put together. They will investigate options. Juli' and Angelina volunteered to help.
-Fred and Kathyrn Krommes asked Angelina to
discuss the idea of changing the reunion schedule to have only 1 (one) meal time
while
insuring that future proceedings would move smoothly. The attendees voted in
favor of changing the schedule possibly as follows:
Noon registration, mingling, information updates, and M&M jar guessing
1pm Meeting starting off with the guessing game winner and awards with perhaps
raffles too
1:45pm Meal and more mingling
3:30 Games
4:15 possible Talent Show/Karaoke (Fred & Juli' can bring a machine)
5pm Clean Up & Depart
-David and Angelina informed people that the family tree is limited in how it can be viewed on current family tree sites. Angelina suggested that they post the .FTM file to the FritzFamily.com web site and then anyone with Family Tree Maker software can download and view the full file. Everyone seemed to like that idea. We're not sure at this time if it will be done since the full version would show live people's information and may violate privacy. Options will be researched further. David would like to publish another tree, perhaps in CD version instead of book.
-Angelina asked that everyone take home a Fritz Family Tree book that was published for the 25th Fritz Family reunion.
-Attendees asked if Al could get more Fritz crest embroidered polo shirts but the required minimum of 12 orders didn't come about so far. A suggestion was made to put the crest on other items besides shirts, like a mug.
